Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival Day

Wednesday | Short Warm-Up Ride

We will meet you at our Lodge in the afternoon.

Once you’re checked in, our mechanics will build your bike, ensuring it’s ready for riding over the next few days. If you’re renting a bike, it'll be fitted to you and perfectly prepared for riding.

A warm-up ride consisting of a few short loops will give you time to stretch your legs out and get used to your bike.

At the end of the ride, we’ll go through the beautiful town of Besalu over the impressive medieval bridge and through the gatehouse into the town, where you can enjoy some fresh drinks.

Over dinner, we’ll outline what to expect over the next few days of riding.

Day 2

Beget - Campradon Loop

Thursday | 116km - 2,365 metres

Oix Beget, one of the more spectacular rides one can do from Girona. Luckily at ARTU we are just at the base of the “good bits” so we can maximize our time taking in the views! By no means an easy ride, but full of rewards. Ancient roman churches perched amid the pyrenees, an artisan bakery stop, tiny freshly paved asphalt roads… This ride is unforgettable. Once we’re at the top of the climb it is (almost) all downhill back home.

Day 3

To Cadaqués

Friday | 122km - 1,580metres

Ride to Cadaqués, home of Salvador Dali. This ride features a complete change in scenery as we head towards Figueres and into the “tailbone” of the Pyrenees. Quiet undulating roads are on tap with unique geological forms and more quaint Roman Catholic architecture. As we climb towards one of the most magnificent sea views in the area we will pass ancient rock structures dating back to millennia BC! The dream is to coast down into Cadaqués for a fantastic lunch, maybe jump on a boat and most definitely lay in the sun before being transported home.

Day 4

Coffee Ride

Saturday | 110km - 1,400 metres

Classic Coffee Stop Ride. No Bike trip is complete without the coffee shop ride and boy do we have a treat for you. My personal favorite bakery/cafe La Menuda in Banyoles. Best flat white in all of Catalunya as voted by me. We will have the option to extend the ride after the coffee stop for those wanting to maximise their time out on the roads and in the sun, otherwise plan will be to head back to the Casa and get some massages, chill by the pool and generally just indulge in relaxation!

Day 5

Departure Day

Sunday

Start your day with a nourishing breakfast, appreciate the beautiful view, and make full use of the provided facilities at Can Terrades. Prior to your departure, our bike mechanic will carefully pack your bicycles before the transfer to the airport for your journey back home.

Overview

“People of Earth, Taylor Phinney here. Come with me to discover one of the Girona area’s hidden gems, ARTU Can Terrades.

I have been acting as bicycle shepherd for longer than I can even remember, and I am so looking forward to showing all of you some of my favourite roads and routes in the place I have called home for the last 10 years!

On the cycling side, we have it all, from flat specialty coffee shop destination rides to small mountain paths winding through medieval towns with Roman churches. From switchbacks overlooking the blue green Mediterranean Sea, to champagne gravel and kilometers of uninhabited quiet nature, the terrain is diverse and inspiring. With two saunas and two pools on site at ARTU you can rest easy (literally!) knowing that when you get back to our home base, the rest of your day will be well spent in deep rest and ultimate comfort.

After all, it is the juxtaposition of these two ideals that allow you to dive deeper into your experience and create lasting memories: the pushing of limits and exploration of new zones, mew heights, and new frontiers on the bike, combined with the gentle embrace of wellness comfort, five star food, and laughs around the dinner table creating fresh connections with old friends and making some new friends in the process.

So join us, I cannot wait to curate this gathering for you, I take great pride in cultivating unforgettable experiences!"
